Today, MINI launched the 2021 model year 3-door hatch in India with a price tag of Rs. 38 lakhs (ex-showroom).
Besides the 2021 Convertible, Ford has also launched the John Cooper Works Hatch for Rs. 44 lakhs and Rs. 45.50 lakhs (prices are ex-showroom).
In terms of design, the 2021 MINI 3-door Hatch and the Convertible come with a unique design. They feature a revised hexagonal radiator grille, fresh air intakes, and round LED headlights, restyled side scuttles featuring LED blinkers and tail lamps with British-flag-themed graphics.
The 2021 MINI John Cooper Works hatch also includes the new hexagonal radiator grille with a lateral red-colored trim piece, bonnet stripes, contrasting paint finish for the roof and mirror caps, and revised aerodynamic features.
Standard on the 3-door hatch and Convertible are 17-inch alloy wheels, while the John Cooper Works hatch comes with 18-inch wheels.
There are 11 colors available for the 2021 MINI 3-door, the MINI Convertible, and the MINI John Cooper Works hatchback. The colors are – Island Blue (new), Rooftop Grey (new), British Racing Green, Chilli Red, Midnight Black, Moonwalk Grey, Pepper White, White Silver, Enigmatic Black (optional), Zesty Yellow (Convertible only), and Rebel Green (JCW).
New interior features include a multifunction steering wheel, new upholstery options, different interior trim, sports seats, an 8.8-inch touchscreen, and high-gloss Piano Black surfaces, while a 5-inch instrument display is optional.
Also optional is the ‘Wired Package’, which comes with a navigation system, wireless charging, Bluetooth, and multifunction instrument display, as well as Apple CarPlay and Harmon Kardon’s sound system.
In addition, the MINI Excitement Pack features LED interior and ambient lighting, as well as a projection of the MINI logo from the driver’s side mirror.
There are more options such as a head-up display, drive modes (MID, Sport, and Green), cruise control, Park Assistant, rearview camera, auto start/stop, brake energy recuperation, and active cooling air flaps as well.
The 2021 MINI 3-door hatch and Convertible features a 2.0-liter petrol engine is making 192 HP and 280 Nm of torque when it comes to the powertrain. The motor is mated to a 7-speed DCT.
The hatchback sprints from 0 to 100 km/hr in 6.7 seconds, while the convertible does it in 7.1 seconds.
The 2.0-liter petrol engine of the 2021 MINI John Cooper Works hatchback provides a maximum of 231 horsepower and 320 Nm of peak torque. With an 8-speed Steptronic Sports Transmission, it runs from 0 to 100 km/hr in 6.1 seconds.
As per MINI’s safety technology offerings for 2021, it includes front passenger airbags, ABS, brake assist, DSC, CCC, a reversing camera, and an automatic emergency braking system. The MINI Convertible comes with a Rollover Protection System for additional safety.
