New Honda Civic Hatchback 1st Official Teaser Released

After introducing the new-gen Civic sedan, Honda has released the first teaser of the upcoming Civic hatchback. The all-new Honda Civic hatchback for the United States will be introduced on June 23rd, 2021, while the Japanese-spec model will debut on June 24, 2021. The new model will come with a much bolder design.

Without revealing details, Honda confirms that the Civic hatchback will have an identical front design to the sedan version. The company also claimed that the all-new Honda Civic hatchback will have an external look with “European” inspiration. Adding to it, a six-speed manual gearbox is also confirmed. The hatchback will retain the versatility, offering five doors.

This is for the first time, the new Honda Civic hatchback will be produced in the United States at Honda’s factory in Greensburg, Indiana. The previous generation was produced in Europe and Japan.

The all-new Honda Civic hatchback will have a more “Cool” design than the sedan. The biggest difference is at the rear, featuring more aggressive design and uniquely styled roof. The hatchback will have lights with a more rounded design, with the top part being interlocked and covering the entire rear part. It comes with roof integrated spoiler to give it a sporty style.

The spy images reveal that the Civic hatchback will have new grille with honeycomb mesh insert and slimmer headlights. The lower bumper has wider air intake with horizontal bars on the honeycomb pattern. Major changes are made around the A-pillar, as the model has less aggressive design. The hatchback gets a more traditional beltline and a larger greenhouse area with new rear quarter glass. The rear profile also gets a more conventional profile, which misses out a wing and a ventilated rear bumper. The 2022 Honda Civic hatch gets a small diffuser and new tail-lamps.

The cabin of the Civic hatchback will be shared with the Civic sedan. It will have clutter free and simple yet functional design. The hatchback will get fully digital instrument panel with a 10.2-inch display along with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The new Honda Civic hatch is likely to be offered with two engine options – a 160bhp, 2.0L NA petrol and a 182bhp, 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol. The Type R variant is likely to receive a 400bhp engine with all-wheel-drive system.
