Dubai Will Host Holographic Concerts Regularly With ‘Dubai Hologram Universe’

There is an influx of innovative and creative technology that is slowly taking over the world, and one of them is hologram technology, which is returning to Dubai with a concert featuring legendary Egyptian singer Abdel Halim Hafez.

Last year, Emiratis were able to see the great singer at the Dubai Opera through the same technology, and since then it has become a favorite in the region.

To celebrate the popularity of hologram technology, ‘Dubai Hologram Universe’ will be launched at Al Habtoor City Theatre on January 30. A performance will be dedicated to the late artist.

Jointly organized by the Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) and New Dimension Productions (NDP), ‘Dubai Hologram Universe’ will feature state-of-the-art hologram concerts by legendary singers and musicians twice a week at the Al Habtoor City venue.

As part of the media event earlier this week, guests were able to witness a hologram of Hafez – who died in 1977 aged just 47 – as well as live musicians performing behind him.

As part of the show, Hafez’s hologram figure was projected with body movements and facial expressions, and dancers joined in the show for an immersive visual experience.

The Abdel Halim Hafez Hologram event last year was an inspiring tribute to the star and his impact on the region. Audiences watched Abdel Halim Hafez on stage with hologram technology and artificial intelligence–a high-resolution 3D model that matches the artist’s appearance and body.

That was the first time Dubai saw something like it, however, with Dubai Hologram Universe, it will be the first regular hologram series focusing on immersive digital entertainment in the world.

Abdel Halim’s concert will be the first of the new concept’s series, which will also feature Diva Umm Kulthum, Warda Al-Jazairia, and Frank Sinatra in the future.
