PlayStation fans will find it hard to contain their excitement, with only nine days to go until the Horizon sequel is officially released.
In terms of graphics, Zero Dawn has taught us that Forbidden West will be even better than the first.
Everyone hopes, at least, that this will be the case ahead of the release. Also, if you dreamed of seeing the new game before anyone else, here’s your chance.
We get our first look at the Forbidden West Map
If you’re used to gaming on PC, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch, you will have to wait, or buy a PlayStation if you’re on any other platform.
We know that the game will eventually be available for PC players, but that will take some time, probably one or two years.
It has happened with countless titles before, including God of War, Days Gone, Forbidden West’s prequel, Zero Dawn, and probably Ghost of Tsushima next.
A first leak, spotted by Reddit users, showed us a glimpse of what the home screen for this latest game will look like, and we even get to hear some of the ambient music.
How big is the Forbidden West map?
We can now get a taste of how massive the sequel’s world will be. Map-wise, the game is pretty vast and offers a lot of variety for scenery, as we learned from the first game.
But how big is it really? The Horizon Forbidden West map is estimated to be 24 kilometers squared, which will certainly keep us busy for a while.
Since it would take a long time to walk from one side to the other, please find a mechanical beast to tame for this long journey.
According to Mathijs De Jonge, the setting for the game will take Aloy from Utah in the United States all the way to the Pacific Coast.
A rough real-life distance of 906 miles separates Utah from San Francisco, so that gives you an idea of how big this map might be.
There is little difference in the size of the maps in the two games. Fans and some experts predict that it will be a bit bigger than the first, though.
Besides the video leak, there’s a Twitter post that shows us a picture of Aloy, with better rendering, and closer to what she will look like when the game is launched.
There is improved lighting and improved quality since we saw the first game trailer back in 2020, and it looks really, really good.
Compare the two games to see how much these improvements have been made. The progress game developers have made since last time is pleasing to see.
There are still a lot of speculations about what neat features developers will add to Forbidden West. A recent Reddit post, that got deleted in the meantime, hinted at the main character being able to fly.
Obviously, this would make the game incredibly interactive, and you’ve got yourself a strong contender for Game of The Year.
Having seen what’s to come, we’re certain your enthusiasm has risen and you are now much more impatient than before.
However, the good news is that we won’t have to wait that long to embark on another epic adventure, hopefully even better than the first.
