The M340i’s popularity may influence BMW to launch the X3 M40i in India. The SUV is powered by a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder twin-turbo petrol engine that makes 378 BHP @ 5,800-6,500 rpm and 500 Nm @ 1,800-5,000 rpm. An 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are mated to the engine.
Introducing a top-spec diesel trim for the X3 is less exciting. The xDrive30d variant is likely to be powered by a 3.0-litre oil engine producing 282 BHP @ 4,000 rpm and 650 Nm @ 2,000-2,500 rpm.
Currently, the BMW X3 is only available in a 2.0-litre diesel engine, while the X4 offers a choice of 2.0-litre petrol and 3.0-litre diesel.
